At age 10 Rob's father sent him to the Kapalama Campus of the Kamehameha
Schools on the other side of the island where they lived in Hawaii. The one-week
boarding program taught various aspects of Hawaiian culture to children of
Hawaiian descent. One of the cultural explorations involved learning the ukulele
and thus began a journey in music that continues to this day. Guitar was a natural transition from the ukulele and Rob started playing in bands soon after starting college. Rob's musical influences and interests span several varieties and styles from acapella to zydeco and combine to spice up the band's rhythm section. Alaska has been his home for the last 20 years and he brings a rich musical background to the ZydeCohos. |
